Markets with their own rules
Not one world market
A game sold worldwide meets many sets of laws. Some markets need a licence before a game can be sold at all. Some stores have rules that apply everywhere.
China mainland
Apple's App Store Connect help: games "must secure an approval number" from China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) to be on the App Store in China mainland. The studio uploads the "ISBN Issuing Letter or Approval Reply".
Quick check

- No: games must have one
- Yes, if it is free
- Yes, after launch
Show the answer
No: games must have one
Apple asks every game for the approval number before it can be offered in China mainland.
Odds before buying
Apple's guideline 3.1.1 applies in every country: apps with "loot boxes" or other random items for purchase "must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase."
Build the shop
Another studio's iPhone game sells mystery seed packs. What must its shop show before purchase?
- The odds of getting each type of seed
- Only the price
- Nothing extra
Show the answer
The odds of getting each type of seed
Apple requires the odds for each type of item, shown before the player pays.
Ratings by region
IARC gives each region its own rating from the same answers. A game can be fine for young players in one country and rated older in another.
A market list
Kai keeps a list: each market, the stores there, the rules that apply, who checked them and when. Sometimes a studio skips a market rather than change the game.
Quick check

- True
- False
Show the answer

Each market has its own laws and its own approvals.
Every channel, together
Builds, accounts, reviews, ratings, prices, fees and laws: each channel is the same game with its own rules.
